This project is led by Katie McErlean, a professional Brisbane-based artist and experienced art facilitator. With over a decade of experience in creating, teaching, and facilitating artistic projects, I have worked with diverse communities to create meaningful and engaging artworks. My portfolio includes private commissions, community art installations, and collaborations with schools and local businesses. My approach focuses on inclusivity, skill development, and fostering a lifelong love of art.

About the Project

This is more than a mural; it’s a chance to work and learn alongside a professional artist while contributing to a meaningful and collaborative creative process.

   •   Project Timeline: Spanning over two weeks, the mural process includes:

      •   6 hours of community painting organized as a paint-by-numbers activity, engaging individuals of all ages.

      •   Artist time for meetings, project development, and final execution after community involvement.

      •   Community talks to inspire and connect participants with the creative process.

For older students, this project offers an entrepreneurial education experience.

Over 15 hours, I will guide them through:

   •   Additional Opportunities for Older Students (Ages 12-17):

      •   Developing a project theme.

      •   Learning how to budget, pitch ideas, and deliver presentations to stakeholders.

      •   Understanding the process of creating large-scale artworks, from design to production.

This educational component can be added to the project for $3,500, making it a total project cost of $8,000
for a 4m x 4m mural, including paint materials.

Pricing Details

   •   Base Cost (4m x 4m): $4,500 (includes artist time, paint materials, and community engagement).

   •   Additional Width: $500 per additional metre (e.g., 8m width: $6,200).

   •   Educational Add-On for Older Students: $3,500 for 20+ hours of entrepreneurial and artistic mentorship.

Term Talks for Years 10-12

As part of my work as an artist and educator, I also offer tailored presentations for Year 10-12 Visual Art and Business students. These sessions focus on large-scale art projects, teamwork, and entrepreneurial skills.

   •   Cost: $800 per session.

Benefits of the Mural Project

   •   Inclusive Participation: Engaging community members across all age groups and skill levels.

   •   Skill Development: Empowering students with practical experience and entrepreneurial insights.

   •   Community Legacy: Leaving a lasting piece of collaborative art.

This project reflects my dedication to using art as a tool for education, connection, and inspiration. I would be thrilled to discuss this opportunity further and explore how we can tailor the project to meet your community’s needs. Please feel free to reach out to arrange a meeting or ask any questions.

Thank you for your time,
